Winter Wedding Stationery - 5 Luxurious Themes For Cooler Months

Winter wedding stationery

Winter weddings always make me feel so warm and fuzzy inside, because they remind me of cosy evenings with candlelight and a real fire, gift giving, wrapped-up walks, and the glitter of party season. The colder months naturally invite you to plan a wedding that brings people together under soft, warm lighting, to enjoy wonderful food and drinks and have a fabulous party, and designing winter wedding stationery allows us to explore lots of fun, festive avenues for your theme. Whether you’re getting married near to Christmas or in the anticipatory freshness of a new year, these 5 luxurious themes for your wedding stationery help you capture the beauty and essence of the cooler months.

What stationery do I need for a winter wedding?

Your winter wedding stationery has a few different jobs at different stages - first and foremost, your invitation. Everyone loves an invitation to a party at this time of year, so what better feeling than being invited to The Party of The Year - your wedding! I love and always recommend physical invitations sent by post, and I think that in 2026 we’ll be seeing this rise again in popularity as couples send wedding mail that is reminiscent of old fashioned love letters.

Along with your invitation you should also send more details, which can go on the reverse or on separate cards held together with a beautiful vellum wrap. Let your guests know where they should be and at what time, what the schedule for the day is, details of where they can stay nearby or local taxi numbers, your stance on gifts, and anything else you think they need to know. If you have a wedding website, add the details of that too and let them know how, where and when to RSVP.

On your winter wedding day itself, I recommend a welcome sign, table plan, table numbers or names, menu cards and place names as a minimum - we can chat about what your bespoke stationery suite needs, as some couples also request bespoke drinks menus, cake signage, all sorts of other lovely little extras!

Festive red

Red is just one of those colours that is an absolute dream to work with for a winter wedding. It fits the season perfectly, conjuring up holly berries, bows on gift boxes, and mulled wine. It also has incredible range, allowing you everything from pale pinky reds to the deepest burgundies, with the purest rose tones and the hottest chilli fire in between.

It’s amazing as the main colour in your winter wedding palette, or as a spicy accent to a more neutral base. Discover all my favourite ways to use red in your winter wedding stationery

Vintage gothic glam

If there was ever a time of year to get a little bit decadent and lean into the theatrical, it’s winter! I’ve loved working on some vintage vampy designs that ooze dark romance for recent couples, and gothic glam is about to have a renaissance in a big way in 2026.

Using dark, rich colours like nightfall noir, fir tree green, oxblood and deepest navy all elicit imagery of glamorous opera halls, Christmas trees with traditional decking, and a royal, regal atmosphere that really comes into its own in the winter months. Chrome accents and sparkling gold really add a layer of opulence to the theme, and if this one has piqued your interest then you’ll loveJuliet and Eric’s vintage vampire castle wedding stationery.

Party season!

Winter wedding stationery can effortlessly invoke party season, whichever month you choose to marry in. Luxurious finishes add a little glitz and glam which really amps up the excitement. For this time of year I particularly love letterpress, sparkling gold foil, silky vellum overlays and little extras such as fine silk ribbons and personalised wax seals.

Winter florals

My wonderfuls, flowers aren’t just for the summer weddings! I absolutely love designing winter wedding stationery with seasonal florals, and my fine art illustrations work particularly well for this. Taking the fluffy peonies and abundant colours of June and July and swapping them for winter’s ranunculus and festive foliage? Blooming lovely.

Icy blue

Icy blue is having a moment in Pinterest’s trend report for 2026, and what a perfect colour for a winter wedding stationery suite. Use it to create an invitation to your frosty fiesta, or lean into an ice palace style wonderland vibe for your wedding day. With this tone you could create a wedding that really feels like stepping through the wardrobe, and transport your guests somewhere snowy even in a UK winter!
