Terms of service

Payments:

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your order. By paying the deposit, you are agreeing to the terms listed here and detailed on this website.  If you decide to cancel the order for any reason at all, you are agreeing to forfeit this deposit fee.
After your payment, a sample ‘Mock-up’ will be sent via email for your approval. Once you have confirmed that you are happy with the proof and spelling have been checked, the production of items will start.

The remaining balance will then be due once all work is complete and before anything is delivered or collected.This is usually requested 4 weeks prior to your event date. Your wedding order will not be confirmed until this payment is made.

If you decide to cancel the order once work has commenced or finished, you are still required to pay 50% of the remaining balance. Work can commence at any time after the deposit fee is paid.  Any refunds given will only be returned to the card used to pay.  Bank transfers are preferable but PayPal is also accepted. All charges will be made via invoice.  All payments must be paid within 7 days of invoicing. 

Delivery, postage & packaging:

All items are sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24 Service. Insurance on your items are up to £100.

Please make sure the delivery address given is correct, as this will be the only address used to post your items to. If you need me to send to a different address, please let me know as soon as possible, as once dispatched it will be sent to the original destination.
If your parcel arrives damaged, the insurance will cover everything and I will create and post out a new item for you, if it is in a time frame that is reasonable. All items are posted 4 weeks prior to the wedding day to account for any issues that may arise. No items will be posted out until the final payment is made.

General:

If your numbers change and I have already ordered supplies, then you may be subject to extra costs, added to your final invoice for getting the extra materials ordered in. 
Your order is not secure until the non-refundable deposit is paid, even if quotes have been sent out and emails have been exchanged. 

Materials are not ordered until the deposit is paid. Delay in payment will cause a delay in materials being ordered and therefore a delay in your items being created and sent in good time. 

If you wish to change materials, please contact me, as it may be possible. However, please bear in mind that different materials cost different prices. Please ensure that you provide your guest lists and all on the day details by the deadline given to you, which is 8 weeks prior to the wedding or event date.
Any big changes will incur an additional charge added to your final invoice.

Please reply promptly once mock ups have been sent over. I work to a very tight schedule; therefore, any exceptionally late replies can delay your items from being made. Please triple check all spelling on your wording and guest lists when they are sent to me. I am not liable for spelling mistakes or grammar errors.
If work has commenced and a mistake is noticed by me or you then you may be liable to pay for extra materials if it cannot be amended.

Due to the nature of calligraphy, and that every item is handmade, there will always be slight variations in pieces.

Image Use:

Scribed by Sophie reserves the right to use images and samples of your stationery and signage for portfolio and marketing purposes. This includes photographing and using them on this website and all social media platforms.  If you do not want me to use your samples then please let me know as soon as possible.
